Wedding Reception Music

Wedding Reception music is used throughout the night. Music is played from the time the reception site is opened and then throughout the night.

When picking out wedding music remember there are many different reception activities that are set to music. Here is a short list of occasions that music will be playing during:

  • Introduction of the bride and groom

  • Introduction of the wedding party

  • First Dance

  • Father/Daughter Dance

  • Mother/Son Dance

  • Cake Cutting

  • Garter Toss

  • Bouquet Toss

  • Last Dance

  • Any Regional/Culture Dances

There will also be music playing during cocktail hour as well as in the background during the meal. Besides choosing specific songs for specific moments – like the first dance – you will also need to choose music to play throughout the rest of the ceremony.

Wedding Reception Music is always present so it needs to help set the tone or the mood, it should help express the type or feelings and emotions you want felt by your guests. However, do not forget that it is your wedding and you can certainly make as many personal music decisions as you want, the more personal the music the more it will mean to you at the time as well as later looking back with your memories (or videos!).
