Are you shopping for rehearsal dinner invitations? Learn more about the rehearsal dinner and the stationery you can choose to send today! Let's get started now.
Generally brides to be send out rehearsal invitations 6 weeks prior to the event. The rehearsal dinner is usually held the night before the wedding immediately following the final wedding rehearsal. So everyone at that final rehearsal dinner should be invited. It is customary to also extend an invitation to anyone who helps at that final rehearsal (such as the person who will be marrying you, your wedding planner and anyone else that is present that night). You can also choose to extend invitations to people who may not be there, but are very close to one of you. Some of those people may include parents, siblings, grandparents or godparents.
So when you make out the final invitation list you should know who is going to be invited. It is always a good idea to order a few extra invitations as well in case you forgot anyone when placing the order. Any invitations left over will of course make wonderful keepsakes. So if you are planning on sending the invitations to your rehearsal dinner out approximately 6 weeks prior to the event, you should order them 10 - 12 weeks prior to the dinner.
What your rehearsal dinner stationery look like is really up to you. Truly, it all depends on what kind of dinner you plan on having. There is no right or wrong way to celebrate after the final rehearsal. For instance, traditionally, you might choose to either have the dinner at a fine restaurant or at someone's home, but you may choose to do something a little bit less formal.
If you are looking for a casual rehearsal dinner you will want to shop for more casual rehearsal invitations. Some causal ideas for dinner include having a backyard barbeque or eating at a family oriented restaurant or a restaurant that connects to some other form of entertainment (like a movie theater, a bowling alley, a bar or somewhere else that you and your guests can enjoy each other's company and wind down for the evening before the big event).
Here are a couple of examples of wording for rehearsal dinner invites Of course you can use these examples to come up with exactly what you want to say and how you want to say it.

If you shop ahead of time you may be able to buy your rehearsal invitations with the rest of your wedding stationery allowing you to match the exact theming to all you stationery.
If you did not do this you can still go back and order later or shop for something similair. You can just buy rehearsal invitations in the same colors or to follow the same wedding theme, it does not have to be a perfect match.
Not everyone wants to match the wedding theme. The wedding theme is something you choose for everyone to see whether you are having a small wedding of 50 of your closest family and friends or an enormous wedding with 300+ guests. The rehearsal dinner is very different.
The dinner only consists of immediate family and the wedding party. Because of the personal and intimate nature of the guests in attendance you might want to shop for stationery which is more suited for the people you are closest to in your life.
You could choose to go all out and buy fancy stationery, stationery that you either could not afford to buy for a larger guest list or stationery that might not of been appropriate or needed for all your guests. Of course you could also go the other way and allow yourself to save a little money and buy more cost efficient stationery for this event because you know your immediate family and the wedding party will not be judging you by what you choose here.
Whatever you decide is fine. Just make sure you like it and to order a few extra so you can save some for your wedding keepsake box!
